Daniel Anjorin is a 14-year-old, Nigerian boy. Who on his way to school, was tragically killed in a sword attack in Hainault, north-east London. However, this senseless act of violence has rocked London, leaving a community in mourning.

The Sudden Attack of Daniel Anjorin

The attack, which unfolded on Tuesday, April 30th, has left Daniel Anjorin with fatal stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the medical facility, he ultimately passed away due to the severity of his injuries. Nevertheless, four others, including two police officers, were also injured during the incident. Thankfully, their injuries are not life-threatening

Police Take Action, Community Reeling

Metropolitan Police Chief Sir Mark Rowley commended the bravery of the officers. Moreover, he also revealed that one nearly lost her hand while apprehending the suspect. The 36-year-old suspect is currently hospitalized for injuries sustained when his vehicle crashed into a house following the attack. Additionally, authorities are awaiting his recovery to begin questioning.

While the motive remains unclear, police emphasize that the attack is not believed to be targeted or terror-related. Nonetheless, specially trained officers are providing support to Daniel’s devastated family during this unimaginable time.

Nigerians Growing Concern

The attack has sparked concern within the Nigerian community in London. As one user on X poignantly expressed, “London and the UK are being in the news recently for the wrong reasons as regards Nigerians living in that country…can’t kids attend school and return home safe again?”
