For the 2024 awards, only works released between October 1, 2022, and September 15, 2023, were considered.

A panel of 150 industry experts from various fields assesses the eligibility of submissions and decides which category they should be nominated for. However, this initial screening process narrows down the field of contenders. Once the screening is complete, the Recording Academy conducts the first round of voting. During this round, Academy members vote for their top choices in each category, ultimately determining the nominations based on the works that receive the highest number of votes.

Final Voting by Industry Professionals

The final voting round commences with the participation of musicians, singers, songwriters, producers, engineers, and other influential figures in the music industry. However, these voting members are invited based on their significant contributions and accomplishments. Every voting member can cast their votes in the four general categories, such as Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. They can only vote in their areas of expertise for other categories like pop, rock, hip-hop, country, jazz, and classical.

In both voting rounds, Academy members are required to vote solely based on quality, disregarding factors such as sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences, or company loyalty. Although, it ensures that the Grammy winners truly exemplify excellence in their respective fields. The identities of the voting members are typically kept confidential to prevent external influence and bias.

Finally, the Grammy winners are selected and announced during the Grammy Awards telecast ceremonies. These ceremonies create a platform to celebrate the outstanding achievements of artists and recognize their contributions to the music industry.
