The University of Uyo community deeply mourns the loss of our cherished sister, friend, and fellow student, Abigail Edith Frederick. As we unite to celebrate her life, we extend our sincere thanks to everyone eager to join us for the Candle Lights Tribute and Memorial Service. Arrival and Candle Light Procession of Late Abigail Frederick

Abigail’s body arrived in Akwa Ibom State from Asaba on Sunday night, April 14, 2024. This solemn occasion was marked by a Candle Lights Procession in her hometown. However, this was led by members of the Entertainment Industry in Akwa Ibom State. The outpouring of support and solidarity during this procession was a proof of Abigail’s impact on the community and the lives she touched.

Burial and Revised Candle Lights Procession

Today, Monday, April 15, 2024, Abigail will be laid to rest in her hometown. Which is Ikot Udoma in Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. In light of this, the Candle Lights Procession in her honour was initially scheduled for Friday, April 19th. However, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The revised date allows for a meaningful and respectful tribute to Abigail while acknowledging the significance of her burial.

The Department of Theatre Arts, University of Uyo Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo, serves as the takeoff point for the Candle Lights Procession. Nevertheless, this location was chosen with the utmost consideration for its proximity to the university community. This recognises the importance of involving Abigail’s colleagues, students, and friends in this commemorative event. It is a time for us to stand together in remembrance and solidarity.
